Source: Wisdom Library: Brihat Samhita by Varahamihira³Õ²¹²õ¾±á¹£á¹³ó²¹²µ´Ç³Ù°ù²¹ (वसिषà¥à¤ गोतà¥à¤�) refers to the “descendants of Vasiá¹£á¹haâ€�, according to the Bá¹›hatsaṃhitÄ (chapter 5), an encyclopedic Sanskrit work written by VarÄhamihira mainly focusing on the science of ancient Indian astronomy astronomy (Jyotiá¹£a).—Accordingly, “If there should be both lunar and solar eclipses in one month, princes will suffer both from dissensions among their own army and from wars. [...] If the eclipses should fall within lunar month of MÄgha, persons noted for filial duty, the descendants of Vasiá¹£á¹ha [i.e., ±¹²¹²õ¾±á¹£á¹³ó²¹²µ´Ç³Ù°ù²¹], men acting up to the Vedic principles, elephant and horses will suffer distress; the people of Vaá¹…ga of Aá¹…ga, and of Benares will be afflicted with miseries; and there will be rain suited to the wants of the ryotsâ€�.
