Part 2 - Processes of Speech Sound production according to Varṇaratnapradīpikā Śṣ�
There are lots of processes of speech sound production established by the different Indian Grammarians. Among all of these theories, the mental process of speech production seems to have been widely accepted and further corroborated by well-known philosophers like ś[1], ٲⲹԲ[2], and śٲ岹[3]. According to Varṇaratnapradīpikā Śṣ�, the internal effort is the creative factor of sound. The soul urges the mind in order to give expression, i.e. to vocalize the thought rising within[4].
The ṇiīⲹ Śṣ� also admits that the contact of mind with the soul is a necessary and primary condition for the production of speech sound�
आत्म� बुद्ध्या समेत्यार्थान� मन� युङ्क्ते विवक्षया�
ātmā buddhyā sametyārthān mano yuṅkte vivakṣayā|
