Source: Wisdom Library: Nāṭya-śāstraṢaḍjⲹ (षड्जमध्यमा) refers to one of the پ (melodic class) related to the ṣaḍj-峾, according to the Nāṭyaśāstra chapter 28. It is also known as Ṣaḍjamadhyā, Ṣaḍjamadhyājāti or Ṣaḍjⲹjāti. Jāti refers to a recognized melody-type and can be seen as a precursor to 岵 which replaced them.

Natyashastra (नाट्यशास्त्र, ṭyśٰ) refers to both the ancient Indian tradition (shastra) of performing arts, (natya—theatrics, drama, dance, music), as well as the name of a Sanskrit work dealing with these subjects. It also teaches the rules for composing Dramatic plays (nataka), construction and performance of Theater, and Poetic works (kavya).
