: Asian Agri-History: Drumavichitrikaranam—The Ancient Approach to Plant Mutagenesisū (सूरपाल) (1000 CE) is the author of the Vṛkṣāyurveda: an encyclopedic work also dealing with ancient Indian agriculture and Plant Mutagenesis (druma-vichitrikaranam). This term means “to make a tree appear extraordinary�. In other words, the term implies that there would be an alteration in the natural trait of the tree. Certain treatises contain a separate chapter on Plant Mutagenesis (ܳ-ٰī첹ṇa), such as ū’s Vṛkṣāyurveda (1000 CE).

Āyurveda (आयुर्वेद, ayurveda) is a branch of Indian science dealing with medicine, herbalism, taxology, anatomy, surgery, alchemy and related topics. Traditional practice of Āyurveda in ancient India dates back to at least the first millenium BC. Literature is commonly written in Sanskrit using various poetic metres.
