Part 2 - Types of articulation according to ṇḍūī Śṣ

These are three types of articulation according to ṇḍܰī Śṣ[1]. They are like

  1. ܳٲṛtپ (first Articulation),
  2. ⲹṛtپ (Normal Articulation) and
  3. ٲṛtپ (slow articulation).

These three types of articulation are used in three types of different place of application. For example, the first articulation is to be used at the time of self preparation. Similarly the normal articulation is to be applicable at the place of application. The slow articulation is to be used at the time of teaching[2]. The ñⲹ Śṣ[3] and the ī Śṣ also admit these three types of articulation.

For example

अभ्यासार्थ द्रुता वृत्ति प्रयोगार्थ तु मध्यमाम्
शिष्याणामुपदेशार्थ कुर्यात् वृत्ति विलम्बिताम्॥

abhyāsārthe drutā vṛtti prayogārthe tu ⲹm|
śiṣyāṇāmupadeśārtha kuryāt vṛtti vilambitām||

(ī Śṣ, 1/6/20)
