According to the Varṇaratnapradīpikā Śṣ� there are four types of Quantity of Sound. The Quantity of Sound is measured by mora

For example Quantity of an consonant is half a mora, short vowel is one mora, long vowel is two moras and ultra long vowel is three moras�

एकमात्रो भवेद� ह्रस्व� द्विमात्रो दीर्� उच्यते�
त्रिमात्रस्त� प्लुतो ज्ञेयो व्यञ्जनं चार्धमात्रिकम्�

ekamātro bhaved hrasvo dvimātro dīrgha ucyate|
trimātrastu pluto jñeyo vyañjana� cārdhamātrikam||

(ղṇaٲԲī辱 Śṣ�,22)

According to the Varṇaratnapradīpikā Śṣ� one ٰ is subdivided into four parts, called the four [1]. On the other hand one �� is subdivided by ��.&Բ;

According to this Śṣ�, �� means a time-unit, equal to one-half of the unit called �Ũ�

अण� तदर्द्धमणु तस्यार्द्ध� परमाणवमिधीयते।

tadarddham tasyārddha� paramāṇavamidhīyate|

(Varṇaratnapradīpikā Śṣ�, 23)

“Paramāṇu� in short is the duration of very infinitesimal time equal to the pause between two individual consecutive consonants. It is given to the equivalent to one �[2].
