1 Water Water has been defined as that which naturally 2 possesses cold touch. Udayana defines water as that which possesses the generality which belongs to hail, snow, ice, but does not belong to any other substance, 3 such as earth, etc. Candrakanta refers to that kind of water which is produced by the combination of the two kinds of gases, It is, no doubt, an artificial one and does not stand, according to him, in the way of 4 the existence of natural water. This view is, undoubtedly, based on the influence of the Western philosophy. Water 1. 310 Water has the qualities of colour, taste, touch, natural fluidity, viscidity, number, dimension, separateness, conjunction, disjunction, priority and 1 posteriority weight and velocity. Of these, taste is the specific quality of water. Water is eternal and non-eternal. The atoms of water are eternal. Composite watery substances are non-eternal. The qualities of the eternal atoms of water are eternal. Those of non-eternal watery substances are non-eternal. The products of water are bodies, sense-organs, and obje cts. The denizens of Varunaloka possess watery bodies, which are not due to sexual union. The gustatory organ is composed of water.
