Muhurat of Building or Silanyas
After the land has been selected the owner should consult a learned astrologer to find out an auspicious time (muhurat) to start the construction of the house which would bring him health, prosperity and good future. In this study we have cited different stipulations to start the work in right time, auspicious time of different months, influence of different asterisms, evil yoga, beneficial yogas, and installation of pillars are described in different treatises. The Matsya Purana 39 says that if a house is begun in the month of Chaitra the owner of it get ill; if in Vaisakha he gets cows and gems; if in Jyestha he dies; if in Asadha, he gets good servants, gems and domestic animals; if in Sravana, he gets good servants; if in Bhadra he becomes a loser of something; if in Asvin he loses his wife; if in Karttika he gets wealth; if in Margasira he gets plenty of grains and eatables; if in Pausa he has a fear

The different sources describe the effects of building in different months of the year. After the selection of the site the actual planning of house is commenced.
