Story of Pratardana
General information.
A King of the line of ±ÊÅ«°ù³Ü. Pratardana who was the son of the daughter of King ³Û²¹²âÄå³Ù¾± ruled the country after making °Äåśī his capital. Pratardana’s mother was ²ÑÄå»å³ó²¹±¹Ä«, ³Û²¹²âÄå³Ù¾±â€™s daughter, and father, ¶Ù¾±±¹´Ç»åÄå²õ²¹. Pratardana once found on his way his grandfather, King ³Û²¹²âÄå³Ù¾±, who had fallen from Svarga. Other details.
(i) Emperor Åš¾±²ú¾± gave Pratardana a sword. (Åš±ô´Ç°ì²¹ 80, Chapter 166, ÅšÄå²Ô³Ù¾± Parva).
(ii) He once gave a gift of a netra (eye) to the brahmins. (Åš±ô´Ç°ì²¹ 20, Chapter 224, ÅšÄå²Ô³Ù¾± Parva).
(iii) He slew the son of ³ÕÄ«³Ù²¹³ó²¹±¹²â²¹. (See under ³ÕÄ«³Ù²¹³ó²¹±¹²â²¹).
(iv) Pratardana courted death after appointing his sons for the service of brahmins. (Åš±ô´Ç°ì²¹ 5, Chapter 137, ´¡²Ô³ÜÅ›Äå²õ²¹²Ô²¹ Parva).
