कृमिकीटपतङ्गानां विड्भुजा� चै� पक्षिणाम� �
हिंस्राणां चै� सत्त्वानां सुरापो ब्राह्मण� व्रजेत� � ५६ �

kṛmikīṭapataṅgānā� viḍbhujā� caiva pakṣiṇām |
hiṃsrāṇāṃ caiva sattvānā� surāpo brāhmaṇo vrajet || 56 ||

The 󳾲ṇa who drinks wine shall enter the womb of worms, insects, moths, of birds feeding on ordure, or of carnivorous animals.�(56)

 

Medhātithi’s commentary (manubhāṣya):

Feeding on ordure’—such as the crow and the like.

Carnivorous’—tigers and so forth.�(56)
