Purana and Itihasa (epic history)

While 艢r墨 R膩ma and Lak峁a峁嘺 were living in the forest with S墨迟腻, they visited the hermiof hermits such as 艢arabha峁単a, 厂耻迟墨办峁a箛补 and others. Once Indra came to the hermitage of 厂耻迟墨办峁a箛补 and invited him to the world of gods. It was at this time that 艢r墨 R膩ma came to the hermitage with S墨迟腻 and Lak峁a峁嘺. When they were nearing the hermitage, Indra said "I shall see R膩ma later when he has completed his great task." Saying thus Indra went away from the hermitage. 艢r墨 R膩ma and his wife and brother asked the hermit, where in the forest, they were to live. The hermit told them that they could live in that hermitage itself.
This hermit was the brother and disciple of Agastya. Once 厂耻迟墨办峁a箛补 changed a wicked and cruel man named Du峁a峁噛a to a good and righteous man by sprinkling holy water of Ga峁単膩 on him. (See under Du峁a峁噛a). (V膩lm墨ki R膩m膩ya峁嘺, Ara峁噛a K膩峁囜笉a, Sarga 7).
