Therav膩da is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).

Source: Wisdom Library: BuddhismMucala (啶啶氞げ) (son of Cet墨ya and father of Mah膩mucala) is the name of an ancient king from the Solar dynasty (蝉奴谤测补惫补峁兣沘) and a descendant of Mah膩sa峁僲ata, according to the Mah膩buddhava峁僺a or Maha Buddhavamsa (the great chronicle of Buddhas) Anud墨pan墨 chapter 1, compiled by Ven. Mingun Sayadaw. These twenty-eight kings were of long lives of 补蝉补峁卥丑测别测测补 (补蝉补峁僰丑测别测补) years. The twenty-seven kings [viz., Mucala] after Mah膩sammata were his descendants. Some of these twenty-eight kings reigned in Kusavat墨 City, others in R膩jagaha and still others in Mithil膩.
