: Shodhganga: a concise history of Sanskrit Chanda literature叠丑补峁弓别苍诲耻谤腻箩补 (啶啷嵿啷囙え啷嵿う啷佮ぐ啶距) is the name of an author of works dealing with prosodoy (chandas or 肠丑补苍诲补艣艣腻蝉迟谤补) quoted by 碍峁尘别苍诲谤补 (11th century) in his 厂耻惫峁泃迟补迟颈濒补办补. The 厂耻惫峁泃迟补迟颈濒补办补 is a monumental work of Sanskrit prosody in which the author discusses 27 popular metres which were used frequently by the poets (e.g., 叠丑补峁弓别苍诲耻谤腻箩补).
Chandas (啶涏え啷嵿う啶膏) refers to Sanskrit prosody and represents one of the six Vedangas (auxiliary disciplines belonging to the study of the Vedas). The science of prosody (chandas-shastra) focusses on the study of the poetic meters such as the commonly known twenty-six metres mentioned by Pingalas.
