: Shodhganga: Kohala in the Sanskrit textual tradition (gita)ٳⲹ (अप्रसिद्धस्थाय) refers to one of the three classes of Sthāya—“melodic pattern constituted by the fundamental (and few other such) notes”—[Cf the Saṅgītasudhā, p. 271].—R. K. Shringy points out Prem Lata Sharma’s conclusion that ٳⲹ comprises of an analysis of the elements of ñᲹ첹 (delightfulness) in music and delineation of 岵 and that it includes gamakas and all other features of 岵 rendition along with a time measure. There are three classes of ٳⲹs viz. prasiddhaٳⲹs, aprasiddhaٳⲹs and miśraٳⲹs.
Gitashastra (गीतशास्त्र, īٲśٰ) refers to the ancient Indian science of Music (gita or samgita), which is traditionally divided in Vocal music, Instrumental music and Dance (under the jurisdiction of music).
