Reader Dear

A. Venkateswara Rao

Reader dear, reader dear
Ar’nt thou reading about Saviour
Who hath an eye on you and me
And all the things he makes me see.

The sun, the moon, the sky with many a star
The earth, the wind, fire and water
The reed, the fish, the birds and beasts
And man at last are all his feats.

Trees have their tongues and brooks their books
Stones their sermons and things their looks
But neath all is voice of God
Telling a tale of his deeds good.

Open dear reader, open
The pages of the book of nature
Read there the laws laid down with care
And try to find godhead within.

All reading without him is waste
All chant without his name is cant
An life without his help is lost
And misbelief is blatant rant.

Read well, Oh! dear reader, read
The lessons of Nature with greed
And fail not to get through the test
If you want toget the reward best.
