posterior aspect of the ilium. These are two in number and are Asthi marmas. They are Kalanthara pranahara and of half anguli in extent. Its bhuta structure is Agni and Jala. Adhidevatha is Roudra. An injury to any of this Katikatharuna (Sacroiliac articulation) situated in the region of sroni (Sacrum) on both sides of the spinal column, gives rise to excessive pain, hemorrhage and consequent pallor and ends in death. 1,2 Fractures of this bone may affect the important pelvic organs and cause death due to complications such as pallor, anaemia and emaciation. It is suitable to consider the marma near the upper margin of pelvic bone which form the Kati and few centimetre away from the lumbosacral joint. First locate the crest of the pelvic bones on the back meeting the lumbar vertebra. Anatomical Structures corresponding to this marma Discussion � The posterior aspect of ilium. � Posterior Superior iliac spine. � Bifurcation of the common iliac artery opposite to the lumbosacral articulation, into external iliac and the corresponding iliac veins. � Sacroiliac ligaments. As this is of taruna nature it is advisable to consider this as sacroiliac articulation.
