Story of Ś
The presiding deity (idol installed) in the Śabarimala temple.
Birth.
Ś fell in love with Ѳ屹ṣṇ in his assumed form as Ѵdzī and Ś was the result of their union. (Kambarāmāyaṇa, Bālaṇḍ). This story occurs in the 8th Skandha of 岵ٲ and the Asura ṇḍ of Skanda ʳܰṇa, but only the Skanda ʳܰṇa refers to the child by name Ś.
Other information.
(i) In the battle between Indra and the asura called Śūrapadma the former deputed Ś for the protection of Śacīdevī. (Skanda ʳܰṇa, Asura Kāṇḍa).
(ii) Ś is supposed to have two wives called ʳܰṇ� and ʳṣk and a son called Satyaka. (Aṣṭottaraśatakam about Ś; also see under Śabarimala).
