Story of ū
Genealogy.
Descended from վṣṇ in the following order: -Atri-Candra-Budha-ʳܰū-Āܲ-ṣa-۲پ-Yadu (Chapter XII of Agni Purāṇa). Descending from Yadu in order were Sahasrajit-Śٲᾱ-Hehaya-Dharma-Kunti-Bhadrasena-Dhanaka-ṛtīⲹ ٳٲīܲԲ-Madhu-ṛṣṇi (Chapter XXIII of Navama Skandha, 岵ٲ). The ṛṣṇi dynasty begins and from ṛṣṇi in order descended ۳ܻᾱ-ŚԾ-Satyaka-ٲⲹ쾱-Jaya-ṇi-Anamitra-ṛśn-Ś첹-ū. (Chapter XXIV of Navama Skandha, 岵ٲ).
Birth.
Ś첹 of the ṛṣṇi dynasty married Ի徱ī, daughter of the King of śī and ū was born to them. ū was an uncle of Śrī ṛṣṇa but is respected more as a worshipper of ṛṣṇa.
Other details.
(1) He became famous as a commander of the 岹 army. (Chapter 220 of Ādi Parva, Ѳٲ).
(2) ū was also present for the Śvayaṃvara (wedding) of ñī. (Śǰ첹 18, Chapter 185 of Ādi Parva, Ѳٲ).
(3) At the time of Arjuna’s eloping with ܲ, a grand festival was going on in the Raivata mountain and ū was partaking in the same. (Śǰ첹 10, Chapter 218, Ādi Parva, Ѳٲ).
(4) ū accompanied ṛṣṇa with the dowry intended for ܲ. (Śǰ첹 29, Chapter 220, Ādi Parva, Ѳٲ).
(5) ū came to the country called Upaplavya for attending the marriage of Abhimanyu. (Śǰ첹 22, Chapter 72, վṭa Parva, Ѳٲ).
(6) ū and Āܰ첹 always quarrelled with each other both alleging that the other sided with the opposite camp of ṛṣṇa. (Śǰ첹s 9 to 11, Chapter 81, ŚԳپ Parva, Ѳٲ).
(7) ṃs planning to kill Balabhadrarāma and Śrī ṛṣṇa conducted a festival called Cāpapūjā (worship of the bow). It was ū whom ṃs sent to bring Balabhadra and ṛṣṇa for the festival. ū understood the plot, informed ṛṣṇa about it and also advised ṛṣṇa to kill ṃs. (Daśama Skandha, 岵ٲ).
(8) ū fought against Ի on the side of ṛṣṇa. (Daśama Skandha).
(9) On another occasion ṛṣṇa, Balabhadra and Uddhava sent ū to Ჹپܰ to get tidings about ܲԳī and the ṇḍ. ū met his sister ܲԳī and talked to her for a long time and also met ٳṛtṣṭ and talked to him after which he returned to ٱ. (Daśama Skandha).
(10) ū went to Ჹپܰ as a messenger from Śrī ṛṣṇa. (Refer sub-para 3 of para 13 under ṛṣṇa).
Domestic life.
ū married ܳٲū, daughter of Āܰ첹 and got two sons named Devaka and Upadevaka. (Navama Skandha).
