: Shodhganga: The significance of the mūla-beras (śilpa)Viśvakseśanar is the name of a deity depicted at the Kallazhagar Temple in Madurai, which represents a sacred place for the worship of Viṣṇu.—Viśvakseśanar is represented as seated in īԲ posture where the right hand is in varada-hasta and the left hand on the thigh in Ծ-hasta. His wife is seen sitting in ٰܳܳپԲ with the right hand holding the lotus in 첹ṭa첹-ٲ and the left hand resting on the left thigh in Ծ-hasta. While depicting in dance, Viśvakseśanar is found seated in 첹岹 with the right leg bent and the left leg hanging and the hands holding varada and DZ resting on the left thigh. The goddess is found seated in aindra maṇḍala with the right hand in kapittha-hasta and left hand on the thigh in DZ. The devotee comes to the entrance and enters the next outer , where he/she finds the sannidhi of Kalyāṇa Sundara Valli Thāyār.
