Vedanta (school of philosophy)

It is nothing in reality, but there is no non-being for natures that know how to distinguish being from non being (屹屹-屹). [nāstyabhāva� svabhāvānā� bhāvābhāvavibhāvinām] The realm of one's own self is not far away, and nor can it be achieved by the addition of limitations to its nature. It is unimaginable, effortless, unchanging and spotless. [...]�.

Vedanta (वेदान्�, vedānta) refers to a school of orthodox Hindu philosophy (astika), drawing its subject-matter from the Upanishads. There are a number of sub-schools of Vedanta, however all of them expound on the basic teaching of the ultimate reality (brahman) and liberation (moksha) of the individual soul (atman).
