General definition (in Hinduism)
: archive.org: Vedic index of Names and SubjectsᲹ (उदाज) is the word used in the Maitrāyaṇ Saṃhitā to denote the share of the booty of war taken by the king after a victory (saṃgrāma jitvā). This interpretation, which is that of Delbrück, is clearly correct, as against the older version, “march out, given by von Schroeder and accepted by Böhtlingk. The Ჹ thus corresponds precisely with the Homeric ???. This sense also suits Nirāja, the variant of both the Kāṭhaka and the Kapiṣṭhala Saṃhitās.

Closely allied with Prakrit and Pali, Sanskrit is more exhaustive in both grammar and terms and has the most extensive collection of literature in the world, greatly surpassing its sister-languages Greek and Latin.
