Ჹ (उदाज) is the word used in the Maitrāyaṇ� Saṃhitā to denote the share of the booty of war taken by the king after a victory (saṃgrāma� jitvā). This interpretation, which is that of Delbrück, is clearly correct, as against the older version, “march out�, given by von Schroeder and accepted by Böhtlingk. The Ჹ thus corresponds precisely with the Homeric �???�. This sense also suits Nirāja, the variant of both the Kāṭhaka and the Kapiṣṭhala Saṃhitās.
