ōṇḍ (तोंडचा).—a Opposite, contrary, in one's teeth--wind, tide, the sun &c. 2 Whose excellence or ability consists, not in action, but in talk only; as ōṇḍ kārakūna, ōṇḍ śipāī, ōṇḍ sugraṇa, tōṇḍa- cā khabara. 3 Conducted, delivered &c. by oral communication, not written--business, accounts, a testimony. 4 ōṇḍ phaṭakaḷa Foul-mouthed or scurrilous; of obscene or abusive speech. ōṇḍ śinnaḷa One that seeks to obtain the reputation of a rake; that falsely boasts of female favors: also one unrestrained and obscene of speech. ōṇḍ gōḍa (āṇi hātacā jaḍa) Sweet and flowing in profession: (slack and heavy at giving). tōṇḍaca catura Clever or fluent of speech. ōṇḍ nīṭa Pleasant-spoken or fair-spoken: also affable or conversible: also ready-spoken, of fluency or propriety of utterance. ōṇḍ rāgīṭa Fiery-tongued, i.e. angerful but not vengeful.
