India history and geography
: Shodhganga: Temple management in the Āgamas (history)Ṣaṣṭyabdapūrti (षष्ट्यब्दपूर्त) refers to the (ceremony regarding the) completion of 60th birthday which is performed in certain Śaiva temples, according to [medieval] temple inscriptions and Śaivāgamas.—The ٳܰԲ of the Śrī Amṛtaghaṭeśvara Temple (Tirukkaḍaiyūr) indicates that Śiva appeared from the ṅg to protect Mārkaṇḍeya, a young devotee doomed to die at 16 years of age, by kicking Kāla, the lord of death. The other main deity in the temple is Śiva in the form of Kālasaṃhāramūrtī. Therefore, the temple is an important worship centre for those praying for good health and long life. The ṣaṣṭ岹ūپ (completion of 60th birthday) and śṣe첹 (80th birthday) ritual celebrations are organized for the individual devotees in the temple premises.

The history of India traces the identification of countries, villages, towns and other regions of India, as well as mythology, zoology, royal dynasties, rulers, tribes, local festivities and traditions and regional languages. Ancient India enjoyed religious freedom and encourages the path of Dharma, a concept common to Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism.
