ⲹṃk (सायंका�) refers to the “evening�, during which time certain Rāgas are recommended while others are prohibited to be sung, according to Kohala (mentioned in the ṅgīٲⲹṇa, Vol. I, p.166,168).—Kohala has classified as ūṃśa ( to be sung in the day time) and Իṃśa ( to be sung at night). The ūṃśa-岵 are born of the sun’s rays and therefore should not be sung in the evening (ⲹṃk). One who sings these in the morning (ٲḥk) attains joy. The Իṃśa-岵 are born of the rays of the moon and should not be sung in the morning (ٲḥk). Singing these in the evening (ⲹṃk) brings about great prosperity.
