: Shodhganga: Elements of Art and Architecture in the Trtiyakhanda of the Visnudharmottarapurana (vastu)The Pavilion part of the Temple (in ancient Indian architecture) is denoted by Sanskrit term ²Ñ²¹á¹‡á¸²¹±è²¹, according to the ViṣṇudharmottarapurÄṇa, an ancient Sanskrit text which (being encyclopedic in nature) deals with a variety of cultural topics such as arts, architecture, music, grammar and astronomy.—²Ñ²¹á¹‡á¸²¹±è²� means the pavilion of a temple. Though the ViṣṇudharmottarapurÄṇa does not talk about the structure, measurement etc. of a ³¾²¹á¹‡á¸²¹±è²¹ (pavilion), this book carries the discussion about different temples having ³¾²¹á¹‡á¸²¹±è²¹s.
