ٰśپ (अस्त्रशक्त�) refers to the “power of the astras (weapons)�, as discussed in the fortieth chapter of the 󾱰ܻԲⲹṃh, a Pāñcarātra work in 60 chapters dealing with topics such as Viṣṇu’s discus-power, the processes of creation and esoteric practices related to Sudarśana (such as mantras and yantras).—Description of the chapter [ٰū貹-ٲ󲹰پ-Ծū貹ṇa]: Satisfied with what he has heard so far, Nārada now asks to know about each of the astra-weapons, their forms, potencies, etc. Ahirbudhnya complies, listing some 102 weapons. For examples, the Nārāyaṇāstra is ferocious, effulgent and like the bursting into vision of a thousand Suns and altogether dazzling in its effects against whom it works; the Śaivāstra is like a flaming staff that explodes with devastating effect over a large area (1-63).
