Ā󲹲Գٲⲹ (आहन्तव्य) refers to “that which should be struck� (as part of an offering ceremony), according to the ղٳṇḍⲹ첹貹Ჹ, an ancient Buddhist ritual manual on agriculture from the 5th-century (or earlier), containing various instructions for the Sangha to provide agriculture-related services to laypeople including rain-making, weather control and crop protection.—Accordingly, [as the Bhagavān teaches the offering manual of the root-heart] “[...] A jar should be placed and a square ṇḍ첹 of cow dung made. Parched grain and mustard seeds should be scattered. Incense should be offered. Having placed a jar there, the mantra should be recited. Having enchanted a pomegranate branch seven times, the jar should be struck (󲹲Գٲⲹ) with that branch softly. All thunderbolts go into the jar. All Nāgas are subdued. [...]�.
