Adviyoni (अद्वियोन�).�lit. not made up of two elements, and hence, produced with a single effort, an expression used for simple vowels (समानाक्ष� (ṣa)) such as �, �, �, �, लृ (a, i, u, , ) and simple consonants क्, ख्, ग् (k, kh, g) etc. as distinguished from diphthongs (सन्ध्यक्षर (Իⲹṣa)) such as �, �, �, � (e, ai, o, au) and conjunct consonants क्�, ध्� (kva, dhra), etc. which appear to have been termed द्वियोनि (dviyoni) cf. अपृक्तमेकाक्षरमद्वियोन� यत� (apṛktamekākṣaramadviyoni yat) R.Pr.XI.3.
