Jaina Antiquities at Ijapur (Jajpur)

The village Ijapur is located in the right side of Jajpur-Mangalpur Road, before Katikata chhaka. A small image of Parsvanatha in dhyanamudra is found on the way to the village from the main road.

Parsvanatha:

The Parsvanatha image a very diminutive one and is approximately 25cm in height. He is seated in dhyanamudra over a lotus pedestal. A seven hooded snake canopy is clearly noticed behind his head and above which a tri-linear umbrella is also marked. The image has wide chest, elongated ear, hair designed with curl knot and a prominent bulge at the centre. Two chauri bearers at the bottom and two flying vidyadharas at the top are also noticed. The iconographical detail of the pedestal of the image is not clearly visible as it covered with a cloth by the local people.
