The Upani峁ds are ancient philosophical and theological treatises. Out of the 108 Upanishads mentioned in the Muktikopanishad, 15 are classified as Saiva-Upanisads.

23. Bhasma鈥搕he power generator
It is said that this holy ash can give rise to all sorts of wealth. In front of it are Vasus, on its right are Rudras, on its back are 膧诲颈迟测补蝉 (suns), on its left are Vi艣ve Devas, in the centre are 叠谤补丑尘腻, 痴颈峁ａ箛耻 and 艢颈惫补, and on its sides are the Sun and the Moon.
The 峁歡 Veda Mantra tells about it (holy ash) as follows,
鈥淲hat is the use of Vedas to a person who does not understand that thing, in whose ether like perennial form lives all devas and the worlds? Any one who understands that great matter are the people who have attained that which should be attained.鈥�
This Bhasma is said to give the 闯帽腻苍补. Even for Hari and 艢补峁卥补谤补. By wearing Bhasma, Hari, who was black became white. In this context Hari says whoever wears Bhasma will become my devotee.[1]
