13. Rudra and the Agnihotra sacrifice

In the context of the Agnihotra sacrifice, a reference has been found in the ṣīt쾱 󳾲ṇa where it is stated that in this sacrifice the Adhvaryu holds out the offering ladle to the north side.

Rudra is appeased at his own quarter by the deed of Adhvaryu.[1]

“Therefore one should not stand to the north of the offering as it is made, lest he be in the victinity of the dread god.[2]
