chapter II Major goddesses 127 � Among celestials she resides in the moon, in Mahadeva, in
Nārāyaṇa, on the earth and in the temple as also the places or
temples where there is everyday festivals.
� Among trees she resides in the myrobalan tree, she is in the fresh
cow dung, couch shells, in lotuses and in white clothes.
She resorts to a mortal having the following characteristics -
� The man who gives away rice etc. to deserving persons, who is
sweet in speech, who serves wise men.
� A handsome person, a person who speaks a few words, a person
who is devoid of procrastination, a person who is pious, is self
restrained, polite due to learning, does not trouble others, is free
of pride, attached to his own country me.
She also goes to a person who devotes longer time to bathe and
take lesser time to eat, who does not smell a flower that is
obtained, who avoids the sight of a naked woman, has qualities
as renunciation, truth and purity.
� She resorts to the body of a woman who is devoted to her guru,
the one who does not transgress the order of her husband, who
takes meals after her husband has taken,
� She resorts to a woman who is contented, who is quite, is sweet-
tongued, is fortunate, is good natured, is charming and is chaste.
� She is 'Syama-varna', is fawn-eyed, has a slender-waist, has
beautiful eyebrows and beautiful long hair, has a graceful gait,
has a deep navel and even set of teeth and is of good character.
