chapter II Major goddesses 126 The Brhatsamhitā mentions the goddess possessing only two hands.
The right hand holding a lotus and the left hand placed in her middle
of her body just below her breasts. The goddess is in standing posture.
Laksmi - Preferential Places.
The goddess Lakshmi likes good and clean things. She
does not like the ones who are lazy and idle their while. The places
patronized by Lakṣmi are the houses where the sun does not sees the
beds, where fire and water are constantly kept, and where the lamps
behold the sun 195.
In the Saubhagya Lakṣmi Tantra the places in which the
goddess Laksmi likes to stay are mentioned 196. They are as follows.
A place where white pigeons live, a house where there is a
beautiful housewife and who is not quarrelsome, a place where
there are paddy of golden colour, rice of silver colour and are
without husk.
� Among trees she resides in the myrobalan tree, she is in the fresh
cow dung, couch shells, in lotuses and in white clothes.
The goddess Laksmi resides in the celestials and the mortals with the
following characteristics.
