The Atharvaveda refers to one of the four Vedas (ancient Sanskrit texts encompassing all kinds of knowledge and science) containing many details on Ayurveda, which is here taken up for study.

Treatments of Pittaja diseases
The types of well-known Pittaja diseases �پ, پ, Āپ, Viśarīka, 鲹پ, Raktapitta and Raktavamana etc. In Bhāvaprakāśa, پ or diarrhoea is compared to a flowing river of manure. This is a serious disease. پ can be cured with Bilva or Bela[1]. Ripe Bela have ⲹԲ and recaka. This is a good laxative for constipation. The decoction of semi-ripe Bela is good for 鲹پ, پ and Āma disease. A murabbā of Bela is the family medicine for Diarrhoea and blood-Peciśa or Āśⲹ. In Śāṅkhāyana Gṛhya ūٰ the medicine mentioned is Madhuka or Mahuyā. In Yajurveda, the medicine mentioned is Badara or Kula[2]. In Ṛgveda the medicine mentioned is ʲś. All these medicines are for treating atisāra disease. Atharvaveda speaks about dysentery, diarrhoea or Āپ. Ṛgveda and Atharvaveda mention Khadira tree as a remedy for these diseases[3]. The marrow of Khadira can be used as an amulet for gaining vigour. In Bhāvaprakāśa it has been said that Khadira can cure Āma, Pitta and Rudhira-. Also, Atharvaveda says that Banyan tree and Bela can be used to treat this disease[4]. Atharvaveda talks about Viśarīka or Āśⲹ and Āśarīka or body ache. This disease can be treated with an amulet of ṅgḍa tree.
