The mother of 痴测腻蝉补.

A short history.

厂补迟测补惫补迟墨 was the daughter of the celestial maid 础诲谤颈办腻. Because of a curse she lived as a fish in the river Ganges. Once the semen of King Uparicaravasu happened to fall in the Ganges and this fish swallowed it in consequence of which it became pregnant. A fisherman caught this fish and cut it. He got two human babies, male and female from the stomach of the fish. The fisherman gave the two infants to the King who took the male child. This child later became the Matsya King. The female child had the smell of fish. The King called her Matsya-Gandh墨 (She who has the smell of fish) and gave her back to the fisherman, who took the child to his hut and brought her up as his daughter. As the child was dark in complexion the fisherman called her 碍腻濒墨. Thus the girl was known by two names 碍腻濒墨 and Matsyagandh墨. Later she got the name 厂补迟测补惫补迟墨 also.

The fisherman was engaged in the work of ferrying people across the river. Matsyagandh墨 helped her father in this work. She became a full-bloomed young woman. One day the hermit 笔补谤腻艣补谤补 came by that way and when he saw Matsyagandh墨, he fell in love with her. She ferried the hermit across the river. In the middle of the river 笔补谤腻艣补谤补 created an artificial fog inside which 笔补谤腻艣补谤补 took Matsyagandh墨 as his wife. From that moment Matsyagandh墨 became 碍补蝉迟奴谤墨gandh墨 (she who has the smell of 碍补蝉迟奴谤墨 (musk). 碍腻濒墨 became pregnant and delivered instantly. 笔补谤腻艣补谤补, left the place after having blessed her that she would not lose her virginity.

The son born to 碍腻濒墨, immediately grew up to be a youth. After promising his mother that he would come to her when she thought of him, the youth went to the forest for penance. The name of the son was 碍峁涐梗峁嘺. This 碍峁涐梗峁嘺 later became famous by the name 痴测腻蝉补. 厂补迟测补惫补迟墨 again engaged herself in helping her father.

One day 艢补苍迟补苍耻, a King of the lunar dynasty came to the forest for hunting. The fragrance of musk emanating from the body of 碍补蝉迟奴谤墨gandh墨 spread throughout the whole forest. The King walked on through the forest tracing the origin of the smell of musk and reached the fisherman鈥檚 hut. The King fell in love with 厂补迟测补惫补迟墨. The King had a son named 叠丑墨峁�m补 by his first wife 骋补峁単腻. 叠丑墨峁�m补 made it easy for the King to marry 厂补迟测补惫补迟墨. Two sons 颁颈迟谤腻峁単补诲补 and 痴颈肠颈迟谤补惫墨谤测补 were born to 艢补苍迟补苍耻 by his wife 厂补迟测补惫补迟墨. 颁颈迟谤腻峁単补诲补 was killed in his boyhood. 痴颈肠颈迟谤补惫墨谤测补 became a youth and married 础尘产颈办腻 and 础尘产腻濒颈办腻 the daughters of the King of 碍腻艣墨. 痴颈肠颈迟谤补惫墨谤测补 met with untimely death before a child was born to him. When 厂补迟测补惫补迟墨 saw that the family was about to become extinct, she thought of her son 痴测腻蝉补, who instantly arrived at the palace. From 痴测腻蝉补, 础尘产腻濒颈办腻 got the son 笔腻峁囜笉耻 and 础尘产颈办腻, the son 顿丑峁泃补谤腻峁ａ弓谤补. Both the sons 顿丑峁泃补谤腻峁ａ弓谤补 and 笔腻峁囜笉耻 got married. 笔腻峁囜笉耻 died. The death of her son struck heavily at the heart of 厂补迟测补惫补迟墨. She did not wish to live much longer after this. She mentioned about the fearful things yet to happen. Then taking her daughters-inlaw 础尘产颈办腻 and 础尘产腻濒颈办腻 with her, 厂补迟测补惫补迟墨 went to the forest to do penance and finally attained heaven. (惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补 膧诲颈 Parva, Chapter 127).
