Story of ³§²¹°ù²¹³¾Äå
General.
Bitch of the Devas. Åš²âÄå³¾²¹ and Åš²¹²ú²¹±ô²¹, sons of ³§²¹°ù²¹³¾Äå, were two prominent messengers of Yama and they possessed four eyes each. The offsprings of these dogs are called ³§Äå°ù²¹³¾±ð²â²¹²õ. The á¹»¶±¹±ð»å²¹ and ²Ñ²¹³óÄå²ú³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹ contain a story about ³§²¹°ù²¹³¾Äå cursing Janamejaya. Other information.
(i) ³§²¹°ù²¹³¾Äå worships µþ°ù²¹³ó³¾Äå in his court. (³§²¹²ú³óÄå Parva, Chapter 11, Verse 40).
(ii) ³§²¹°ù²¹³¾Äå is a graha (Evil spirit) of ³§³Ü²ú°ù²¹³ó³¾²¹á¹‡y²¹ which enters the womb of pregnant women and steals the babies. (Vana Parva, Chapter 230, Verse 34).
(iii) ³§²¹°ù²¹³¾Äå after having once drunk milk from dasyus lied about it to Indra, and he punished her. (³Õ²¹°ùÄå³ó²¹ ±Ê³Ü°ùÄåṇa).
(iv) Indra once deputed ³§²¹°ù²¹³¾Äå to find out the place where the ±Ê²¹á¹‡i²õ had hidden the cows on condition that he would feed her children. ³§²¹°ù²¹³¾Äå found out the place and informed Indra about it thus earning for her children their livelihood. (á¹»¶±¹±ð»å²¹, ²Ñ²¹á¹‡á¸²¹±ô²¹ 1, Chapter 5).
