Story of 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补
General.
Made famous by the 惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补, 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补 is a sacred place situated to the south of the river 厂补谤补蝉惫补迟墨 and north of 顿峁涐梗补诲惫补迟墨. People who live in this region really live in heaven. (Ara峁噛ak膩峁囜笉a, Chapter 83, Verse 4).
According to Pulastya even those who come into contact with the dust blown by the wind from this place meet with auspicious and.
Other details.
(i) 罢补办峁办补 lived on the banks of the river 滨办峁尘补迟墨 in 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补 (膧di Parva, Chapter 31, Verse 139).
(ii) 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补 became a sacred place as king Kuru did tapas there. (膧di Parva, Chapter 14, Verse 50).
(iii) Two sons called 颁颈迟谤腻峁単补诲补 and 痴颈肠颈迟谤补惫墨谤测补 were born to 艢补苍迟补苍耻 of 厂补迟测补惫补迟墨. Once while hunting in a forest 颁颈迟谤腻峁単补诲补 met a Gandharva, whose name also was 颁颈迟谤腻峁単补诲补. The Gandharva, got angry that a man bore his name and so he killed 颁颈迟谤腻峁単补诲补. The incident took place at 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补 (膧di Parva, Chapter 101, Verses 8 and 9).
(iv) Sunda and Upasunda, who conquered all the worlds lived in 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补 (膧di Parva, Chapter 209, Verse 27).
(v) Before the 碍丑腻峁囜笉补惫补 forest was burnt down 罢补办峁办补 left the place and went to 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补 and lived there. (膧di Parva, Chapter 226, Verse 4).
(vi) During their life of exile in the forest the 笔腻峁囜笉补惫补蝉 visited 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补 (Vana Parva, Chapter 5, Verse 1).
(vii) King 惭腻苍诲丑腻迟腻 once conducted a 测补箩帽补 within the boundaries of 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补. (Vana Parva, Chapter 126, Verse 45).
(viii) The reputed sage Mudgala lived here. (Vana Parva, Chapter 260, Verse 3).
(ix) Once a fierce fight took place here (碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补) between 叠丑墨峁补 and 笔补谤补艣耻谤腻尘补. 笔补谤补艣耻谤腻尘补 wanted 叠丑墨峁补 to accept 础尘产腻, daughter of the King of 碍腻艣墨 as his wife.

(xi) 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补 had been formerly known as 厂补尘补苍迟补辫补帽肠补办补. Since King Kuru made this place holy it came to be known as 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补 thereafter.
(xii) It was at 碍耻谤耻办峁迟谤补 that the 笔腻峁囜笉补惫补蝉 and the Kauravas waged a fierce war and it was here that 艢r墨 碍峁涐梗峁嘺 taught Arjuna the 骋墨迟腻. (叠丑墨峁补 Parva, Chapter 258, Verse 42).
(xiii) Emperor 厂耻诲补谤艣补苍补, son of Agni, who was famous for his hospitality, lived here. (础苍耻艣腻蝉补苍补 Parva, Chapter 2, Verse 40).
