One who is clever in bhajana never meets with defeat 鈥� One can only develop attachment for 艢谤墨 Hari, guru, and 痴补颈峁ａ箛补惫补蝉 if one offers one鈥檚 heart and soul to them 鈥� Those who really want to perform hari-bhajana have no time to waste 鈥� To perform bhajana in 骋补耻岣峚-尘补峁囜笉补濒补 on the banks of the 骋补峁単腻 is a matter of great fortune 鈥� 鈥淒o not speak of your own bhajana here and there鈥� 鈥� One has to discern between good and bad to perform hari-bhajana

M膩鈥斺��! Previously I received your letters dated 21/10/93 and 1/12/93. I hope you are all well at present. 鈥�

However many 驳峁沨补蝉迟丑补 devotees are in this region, if you can all cooperate, everyone will be benefitted. Do not ever get involved in village politics. If you are clever in the performance of bhajana (bhajana-catura), everyone will trust and love you. I hope that if you always proceed with good judgment and discretion, you will not be defeated anywhere. If man has patience, tolerance, and discretion, he will have no difficulty as he moves through this world. Pointless criticism, blasphemy, and gossip do not bring auspiciousness or well-being for anyone. 

Words such as [the following] are cautionary messages for our life鈥檚 journey:

啶�啶�-啶氞ぐ啷嵿�氞�曕�囙ぐ啷� 啶椸い啶� 啶ㄠぞ啶灌た 啶曕�嬥��-啶曕ぞ啶侧��

鈥淎 gossiper never has a good destination鈥� 

And,

啶�啶�-啶膏�嵿さ啶�啶距さ-啶曕ぐ啷嵿ぎ啶距ぃ啶� 啶� 啶ㄠた啶ㄠ�嵿う啷囙い啷� 啶� 啶�啷嵿ぐ啶多�傕じ啷囙い啷�
para-svabh膩va-karm膩峁噄 na nindet na pra艣a峁僺et^[1]

鈥淥ne should neither criticize nor praise another鈥檚 nature or deeds鈥�

If surrender or submission of the soul does not occur, a sense of possessiveness does not arise. Then even one who is extremely intimate is considered to be 鈥渙ther鈥�. May 艢谤墨 Hari, guru, and 痴补颈峁ａ箛补惫补蝉 always be victorious. We gain real well-being by their auspicious wishes and auspicious blessings. For their service, we will be ready to accept any kind of renunciation. This is the inner desire of one who adheres to real dharma. If you proceed with a policy of impartiality, you will find peace of mind. 础尘腻苍墨-尘腻苍补诲补-诲丑补谤尘补, the religion of giving respect to others and expecting none in return, is topmost.

Those who are really striving to perform hari-bhajana have very little free time. In trying to perform the tasks of service and maintain their responsibilities, they do not have any free time on their hands. Only those who have plenty of time are accustomed to keeping track of who sneezed how many times and how many times they coughed. Do not ever waste time in this manner. The proper use of time happens through contemplation of the soul鈥檚 welfare. How much progress have I made in 蝉腻诲丑补苍补-产丑补箩补苍补? Keeping this personal account is the real

utilization of one鈥檚 time. Even while completing one鈥檚 services every day, there still remain various duties favourable for the service of Hari, like chanting a fixed amount of 艣谤墨 苍腻尘补, studying the scriptures, worshipping 艣谤墨 vigraha, cooking bhoga, and so on. So rather than occupying yourself with seeking faults in others, try to rectify your soul as per the vision of the scriptures. If you do this, 艣谤墨 guru, 痴补颈峁ａ箛补惫补蝉, and 叠丑补驳补惫腻苍 will shower blessings upon you.

Those who tie together a 产丑补箩补苍补-办耻峁�墨r补 on the banks of the 骋补峁単腻 and, while gazing upon the 骋补峁単腻, chant 艣谤墨 hari苍腻尘补 are supremely fortunate.

That is why a certain 痴补颈峁ａ箛补惫补 尘补丑腻箩补苍补 has sung: 

啶掂�冟え啷嵿う啶距さ啶ㄠぞ啶�啷囙う啷�, 啶ㄠさ啶︵�嵿さ啷�啶�-啶оぞ啶�啷�, 啶�啶距ぇ啶苦が啷� 啶曕�佮�熰��啶�-啶栢ぞ啶ㄠた;
啶多�氞��啶�-啶ㄠえ啷嵿う啶�, 啶氞ぐ啶� 啶嗋ざ啷嵿ぐ啶�, 啶曕ぐ啶苦が啷� 啶膏ぎ啷嵿が啶ㄠ�嵿�� 啶�啶距え啶�

v峁沶d膩van膩bhede, navadv墨pa-dh膩me, b膩dhibo ku峁�墨ra-kh膩ni;
艣ac墨ra-nandana, cara峁嘺 膩艣raya, karibo sambandha m膩ni^[2]

鈥泪苍 狈补惫补诲惫墨辫补-诲丑腻尘补, which is non-different from 痴峁沶诲腻惫补苍补, I will build a cottage and take shelter of the feet of the son of 艢补肠墨, recognizing my relationship with Him.鈥�&苍产蝉辫;

There is no limit to the fortune of those who are in Gaura-迟墨谤迟丑补 (the holy land of 艢谤墨 Gaurahari), in 骋补耻岣峚-尘补峁囜笉补濒补, on the banks of the celestial river [the 骋补峁単腻] and who, with devotion and a desire to serve the lotus feet of the vraja-rasa-rasikas (connoisseurs of the mellows of Vraja) are absorbed in the intimate service of the Divine Couple 艢谤墨 搁腻诲丑腻-Vinoda-bih膩r墨. The sevaka and 蝉别惫颈办腻 who are immersed exclusively in meditation on 叠丑补驳补惫腻苍 become absorbed in the service of 艣谤墨 苍腻尘补 and remember 艢谤墨 搁腻诲丑腻-Govinda鈥檚 transcendental pastimes. 

Adopting the [following] words in their condition of separation, they feel the whole world is empty and cry piteously:

啶多�傕え啷嵿く啶距く啶苦い啶� 啶溹�椸い啷�-啶膏ぐ啷嵿さ啶� 啶椸�嬥さ啶苦え啷嵿��-啶掂た啶班す啷囙え 啶�啷�

艣奴ny膩yita峁� jagat-sarva峁� govinda-virahena me^[3]

鈥淭he whole world seems void in separation from Govinda鈥�

A home that is full of bhajana of 艢谤墨 叠丑补驳补惫腻苍 is referred to as Goloka. It is forever resonant with hearing and chanting and decorated with ingredients of service. As it is a place that stimulates the performance of pastimes, the beauty of service manifests and the devotee鈥檚 eyes and mind become anxious and desperate. That is why I say you are exceedingly fortunate, because your lives are offered to the service of 叠丑补驳补惫腻苍.

My special instruction is to not spend your time on ordinary matters and concerns. At all times, discuss and cultivate most exalted and unique aspects of 蝉腻诲丑补苍补-bhajana and tattva-蝉颈诲诲丑腻苍迟补. If you become occupied with criticizing others rather than focusing on your own efforts, your mind will become polluted. 

That will not give you peace in 蝉腻诲丑补苍补-产丑补箩补苍补 and service. 

啶嗋お啶� 啶�啶溹�� 啶曕ぅ啶�,
啶� 啶曕す啶苦が啷� 啶溹ぅ啶� 啶むぅ啶�

膧pana bhajana kath膩,
na kahibe jath膩 tath膩^[4]

鈥淒o not speak of your own bhajana here and there.鈥�&苍产蝉辫;

Always remember this. Then there is a possibility of gaining ultimate auspiciousness.

膧pani 膩cari dharma j墨vere 艣ikh膩ya, 膩pane n膩 kaile dharma 艣ikh膩n n膩 箩腻测补^[5]

鈥淧谤补肠迟颈蝉别 dharma yourself and teach it to other living entities. If you do not practise dharma yourself, you cannot teach it.鈥�&苍产蝉辫;

This statement is forever applicable.

nitya-诲腻蝉补 prati tuw膩 adhik膩r膩^[6]

鈥淜ill me or keep me, whatever You please. You have full authority over Your eternal servant.鈥�&苍产蝉辫;

This is the unconditional surrender, or submission, of the surrendered person who has offered his soul. Nevertheless, one has to discern between good and bad, otherwise hari-bhajana cannot happen properly. By the blessings of 艣谤墨 guru and the 痴补颈峁ａ箛补惫补蝉, all inauspiciousness is dispelled. Do not ever be distressed by the adversities of the world. May 艢谤墨 Gaurasundara and 艢谤墨 N峁泂i峁僪adeva dispel all the obstacles and impediments on the path of your bhajana and may you perform hari-bhajana without any worries. Know this to be my greatest blessing.
