General definition (in Jainism)
: HereNow4U: A Rare Jaina-Image of BalarÄma at Mt. MÄá¹…gÄ«-°Õ³Üá¹…gÄ«°Õ³Üá¹…gÄ« (तà¥à¤™à¥à¤—ी) is the name of a hill situated at ²ÑÄåá¹…gÄ«³Ù³Üá¹…gÄ«: a mountain corresponding to the GÄlanÄ hills of the Selbaá¹›Ä range in northern MahÄrÄá¹£á¹á¹›a.—[...] The three active shrines under the pinnacle of the more remote eastern peak, today known as “°Õ³Üá¹…gÄ«â€, are less elaborate and significant. They are dedicated to: (1) RÄmacandra (Padma), (2) Candraprabhu, (3) PañcabÄlÄyati BhagavÄna (VÄsupÅ«jya, MallinÄtha, NeminÄtha, PÄrÅ›vanÄtha, MahÄvÄ«ra). The dates of the images cannot be firmly stated.
Jaina universal histories mention that after the cremation of Kṛṣṇa, BalarÄma became a Jaina monk who extensively fasted on Mt. °Õ³Üá¹…gÄ«, died and went to heaven. Yet, there is no report on his cremation. According to the Digambara PurÄṇas, it was Kṛṣṇa who was cremated on Mt. °Õ³Üá¹…gÄ«. But he was then reborn in hell. The site of his funeral is nevertheless marked on the hill by a water tank named Kṛṣṇa-Kuṇá¸a.

Jainism is an Indian religion of Dharma whose doctrine revolves around harmlessness (ahimsa) towards every living being. The two major branches (Digambara and Svetambara) of Jainism stimulate self-control (or, shramana, ‘self-reliance) and spiritual development through a path of peace for the soul to progess to the ultimate goal.
