Vyakarana (Sanskrit grammar)
: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarʲ岹峾 (पदविरा�).—Pause between two words measuring two mātrās, or equal to the time required for the utterance of a long vowel; e. g. in इष� त्वोर्जे त्वा (ṣe tvorje ٱ), the pause between इष� (ṣe) and त्वा (ٱ) is measured by two mātrās; cf. पदविरामो द्विमात्रः (padavirāmo dvimātra�) T. Pr. XXII.13.Some Prātiśākhya texts declare that the pause between two words is of one mātra as at avagraha; cf. R Pr. II.1 and R. T. 35-38.

Vyakarana (व्याकर�, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
