It was at this place that 艢r墨 R膩ma killed fourteen thousand R膩k峁sas (giants) such as Khara D奴峁峁嘺, Tri艣iras and others. (Mah膩bh膩rata D膩k峁峁嚹乼ya P膩峁環a, Sabh膩 Parva, Chapter 38). M膩r墨ca allured S墨t膩 and R膩va峁嘺 kidnapped her in this place. (Mah膩bh膩rata Vana Parva, Chapter 147). 艢奴rpa峁嘺kh膩 tried to attract 艢r墨 R膩ma and Lak峁a峁嘺, and her nose etc, were cut off, in this forest. It was in this place that 艢r墨 R膩ma cut off the head of a R膩k峁sa (demon) and threw it away. That head fell in the lap of a hermit called Mahodara. (Mah膩bh膩rata 艢alya Parva, Chapter 39). 闯补苍补蝉迟丑腻苍补 is regarded as a holy place. It is mentioned in Mah膩bh膩rata, Anu艣膩sana Parva, Chapter 25, Stanza 29, that those who stay in this place and take bath in the God膩var墨 will acquire imperial prosperity.
