Vyakarana (Sanskrit grammar)
: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarItra (इत्र).—Kṛt affix, added to the roots �, लू, धू (�, ū, ū) etc. in the sense of instrument cf. अर्तिलूधूसूखनसहच� इत्र� (artiūūsūkhanasahacara itra�) P.III. 2.184-6. e. g. अरित्रम्, लवित्रम् खनित्रम् (aritram, lavitram khanitram) etc. The words ending in इत्र (itra) have got the acute accent on the last syllable; cf. P.VI.2.144.

Vyakarana (व्याकर�, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
