Shaivism (Shaiva philosophy)
: academia.edu: Religious Inclusivism in the Writings of an Early Modern Sanskrit Intellectual (Shaivism)µž³ó±š»å²¹±¹Äå»å²¹ (ą¤ą„दवाद) or DvaitavÄda refers to the ādualist doctrineā.āIn Abhinavaguptaās time and place, tantric Åaivism (³¾²¹²Ō³Ł°ł²¹³¾Äå°ł²µ²¹) was divided into two main branches: Åaiva SiddhÄntaāits main representatives being Sadyojyotis and Kashmirian theologians such as Bhaį¹į¹a NÄrÄyaį¹akaį¹į¹ha and his son Bhaį¹į¹a RÄmakaį¹į¹ha II (or RÄmakaį¹į¹ha)āand non-dualist, ÅÄkta-oriented schools such as the Trika, on which relied most of Abhinavaguptaās exegesis. Both forms of tantric Åaivism essentially share a single ritual system, with the same elaborate procedures for initiation, consecration of officiants and worship. However, certain features set the two schools apart. While Åaiva SiddhÄnta adheres to a strictly dualist doctrine (»å±¹²¹¾±³Ł²¹±¹Äå»å²¹, ²ś³ó±š»å²¹±¹Äå»å²¹) according to which Åiva is the efficient cause of the world and is distinct from souls and worlds, non-dualist schools hold that Åiva is ultimately non-different from the soul and that liberation is achieved not through ritual but through gnosis.

Shaiva (ą¤¶ą„ą¤, Åaiva) or Shaivism (Åaivism) represents a tradition of Hinduism worshiping Shiva as the supreme being. Closely related to Shaktism, Shaiva literature includes a range of scriptures, including Tantras, while the root of this tradition may be traced back to the ancient Vedas.
