Apapitva (अपपित्):—[=apa-pitva] n. (probably for -pittva [from] 2. pat; cf. abhi-pitva, -辱ٱ, pra-pitva; but cf. also api-tva sub voce api), turning away, separation, [Ṛg-veda iii, 53, 24.]

: Cologne Digital Sanskrit Dictionaries: Goldstücker Sanskrit-English Dictionary

Apapitva (अपपित्):—[tatpurusha compound] n.

(-tvam) (ved.) Going away from, sever-ance. E. with apa, kṛt aff. tvan; (in analogy with the etym. of sapitva as given by ⲹṇa; but Benfey—s. v. prapitva in his Glossary to the Sāmaveda—is probably more correct in referring this and similar formations to a radical ap (comp. the E. of apta). The compound is irregular on account of the short vowel of the second syllable and belongs, in this respect, to the class of karkandhu, śakandhu, sīmanta &c.).
