(13) THE SALIHOTRA 艢膧KH膧

A Salihotra 膩c膩rya is mentioned in the Gobhila Grhya
Karma Prak膩艣ik膩. Mahid膩sa has also mentioned him70. Accord-
ing to the Mah膩bh膩rata a Salihotra was a resident of a forest
where Pandavas accompanied by Hi岣峣mba had rested and
Salihotra fed them". This S膩kh膩 is mentioned in the Vayu and
Brahma峁囜笉a Pur膩峁嘺s". No text of this S膩kh膩 is avilable.
(14) THE V膧R峁GANYA 艢膧KH膧
According to the Jaiminiya G峁沨ya S奴tra, Prapa帽cah峁沝aya,
Gobhila Grhyakarma Prak膩艣ik膩 and the verses quoted by Mahi-
d膩sa, the V膩r峁ganya Sakh膩 belonged to the S膩mveda. The
Mah膩bh膩rata is aware of a V膩r峁ganya, who was taught by
Gandharvar膩ja Vi艣v膩vasu about the jiva and the param膩tman's.
Yadava Prak膩艣a while commenting upon the Pingala-Sutra has
quoted a verse from the V膩r峁ganya Samhita". On the evidence
of Yadava Prak膩艣a the existence of a V膩r峁ganya Samhit膩 may
be inferred. But at present no text is available.
(15) THE TANDYA 艢膧KH膧
The famous T膩峁囜笉ya or Pa帽cavim艣a Br膩hma峁嘺 belongs to
this 艢膩kh膩. T膩ndya R峁 is mentioned in the Satapatha Br膩h-
mana. In the 峁歴i tarpa峁嘺 of S膩mavidh膩na Br膩hma峁嘺 T膩峁囜笉ya
is regarded as a pupil of B膩dar膩ya峁嘺", Sankar膩c膩rya has men-
tioned this 艢膩kh膩 in the Ved膩ntabh膩峁a." He calls the Chan-
dogya Upanisad by the name of T膩峁囜笉ya Upanisad. A Tandi
峁氠梗i is mentioned in the Mah膩bh膩rata. Prof. Caland has quoted
the verses which are found in the Tandya Br膩hma峁嘺 and have
