Ayurveda is not an independent Darśana for interpreting the
theories of Carakasamhita, the knowledge of Vaiseṣika and Nyāya
doctrine are very essential. Ayurveda owes a great deal to the
philosophies of the Vaiseṣika, Nyāya, Sānkhya yoga, etc. Nyāya and
Vaiśeṣika Darśanas have contributed extensively to Ayurveda theories.
Caraka adopted Dravya and other categories from Vaiśesika darśana.
Knowledge of Nyayavaiśesikadarśanas is unevitable in Ayurvedic studies.
Vaidyabhooshanam Raghavan Thirumulpad opines that Ayurveda had its
own personality and not compared to other Ayurveda had its own stand
and approaches. Ayurveda had developed on the basis of Indian
darśanas. But these darśanas are found avoided in the present Ayurvedic
education.
