This is an English study of the Sankalpa Suryodaya鈥攁n allegorical Sanskrit drama by Venkatanatha, a distinguished philosopher-poet and dramatist of the Vishishtadvaita Vedanta tradition. This work of Venkata-natha (or, Vedanta Deshika). stands out for integrating allegory to convey moral and philosophical truths. The thesis examines its place in Sanskrit literature.

Here Vibh膩vas of S盲ntarasa are indicated i.e. Puru峁 has completely turned
away his face from Sa峁僺膩ra as he has given up all desires of mundane world. He
is in close position of 艢ama, Dama etc. Hence, his mind is very much devoted to
Lord Vi峁ａ箛u and hence he is engrossed in meditaion.1
