other gods and goddess like Visnu, Laksmi, Saraswati
and also a number of weapons which are revitalised by
such worship. The custom of Virgin-worship as a part
of Navaratra is also significant inasmuch as it reminds
us of similar tradition in other parts of India like
Bengal, Assam, etc. which is zealously practised
today.

celebrations for ten long days in which the king sows
the seeds of his victory by symbolic discharge of arrows
against the enemy, his elaborate reviewing of his tropps

amusements - all this clearly depicts the significant
role this festival had come to occupy in the life of a
Hindu king then.
