After the union of Radha and Krsna these companions make jestful remarks to them. Madhumangala is a supporting character to the hero in this poem. Many works of Vaisnava literature are silent about this character. He is a man with true heart, the real friend of Krsna. In the Sanskrit portion two verses are related with him. 75 In the Jagannathavallabhanatakam of Raya Ramananda, Krsna moves with his friend Madhumangala and he requests Krsna to play the flute melodiously. He points the coming of Radha with her companions to Krsna. In 76 this drama he acts as a supporter and a mediator and he is the jester or 77 vidusaka of the drama." Kavisurya has selected the character of Lalita for this purpose. In some places the role of Lalita is similar to that of Madhumangala of the Jagannatha-vallabha-nataka 74. Behera, K.C., Ed.
