The same high regard is found for the Brāhmaṇas that
is the peculiar feature of the plays of this group. The
effects of darkness are described in I. 16 and III. 19,
the latter of which is bound to appeal to the cowherds.
Devaki's condition after entrusting her child to Vasudeva
is happily described in I. 13:
हृदयेनेह तत्राङ्गैर्द्विधाभूतेव
गच्छति
यथ नभसि तोये  चन्द्रलेखा द्विधाकृता
[hṛdayeneha tatrāṅgairdvidhābhūteva
gacchati | |
yathā nabhasi toye ca candralekhā dvidhākṛtā ||
]
II. 13 lays down the general rule of conduct at the same
time indicating the momentary nature of the kingly
whims :
स्मरतापि भय राजा भय  स्मरतापि वा
उभाभ्यामपि गन्तव्यो भयादप्यभयादप
[smaratāpi bhaya rājā bhaya na smaratāpi vā |
ubhābhyāmapi gantavyo bhayādapyabhayādapi ||
]
The tendency to use alliteration and yamakas is found
in this play also, though to a small extent. Cf. I. 6 :
शोकार्ता शशिवदन निशि प्रशान्त  [śokārtā śaśivadanā niśi praśāntā | ] II. 6: सौवर्णकान्ततरकन्दरकूटकुञ्जम्  [sauvarṇakāntatarakandarakūṭakuñjam | ] I.8: नारा-
यणाय नरलोकपरायणाय  [-
yaṇāya naralokaparāyaṇāya |
]
V. 7 :... कृतलोहमुष्टि, तं मुष्टिना मुष्टिकमद् रुष्टम
[kṛtalohamuṣṭi, ta muṣṭinā muṣṭikamadya ruṣṭam |
]
That the use of the Rangasirsa and Rangapitha was
required for the staging of the last act has already been
dealt with while describing Bhāsa's stage.
